The small community of Brooking, Saskatchewan started to pop up in the early 1900’s. People started to settle in the area and homestead. With word of the railway coming through, most people arrived. Pumphouses, like the one you see below used to be very common. In the age of steam trains these pumphouses were key to keeping them going. Placed beside a water source these pumphouses were tasks with refueling trains. When steam trains became a thing of the past these were no longer needed. Most were demolished
