Indian Hospital Fort Qu'Appelle

Abandoned general hospital specializing in tuberculosis.

Indian Hospital also known as the Indian Services Hospital was a general hospital located in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan. It was built in 1936 by the federal government and was a 50-bed general hospital that was also a tuberculosis treatment facility. The Fort San Sanatorium later took over tuberculosis. In 1996 the Indian Hospital transferred responsibility from the government and local health authority to the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council and File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council.

In 2004 a new culturally significant and modern All Nations' Healing Hospital was built to replace the Indian Hospital. The Indian Hospital was a designated federal heritage property, however, as with most historic buildings in the province there was no vision, it sat abandoned too long and was demolished in 2021.
