The Messengers is a full-length movie from 2007. It's a supernatural horror film starring Kristen Stewart. The film includes an old house with a sunflower farm set in North Dakota but it's filmed in Saskatchewan! This house may appear old but in fact, it's not. Built in 2006/2007 in the Qu'Appelle Valley as a set for the movie this house is not a real home.
If you know about Saskatchewan history you would likely have already figured this house is not old as the architecture does not fit the area. If you didn't, you would get some clues as you get closer. The overall build quality is cheap, the bricks are stickers, the inside is completely unfinished except for two rooms and there is no insulation, power, or utilities.
The crew would have used the house for mostly exterior shots and a few interior shots where the areas were finished. Most of the interior of the house would have been filmed in a sound stage/interior set likely in Regina.
Although this house was built for the movie, this was an original farm site. The barn we believe to be original and there is a two-story square house on site that is original.
