Mount Blackstrap

A man-made ski hill in Saskatchewan

Welcome to Mount Blackstrap, a man-made ski hill located at Blackstrap, Saskatchewan. It has often been referred to as the Pimple on the Prairie. It was built for the Canada Winter Games in 1971 and was closed in 2008 due to a decline in ridership. Alicia remembers snowboarding the hill in high school. She returned in 2009, shortly after the chalet had burned down by arson. The remaining building was still full of ski rental supplies, the chair lift was in place but the chairs were on the ground. The government sold the equipment shortly after her visit and everything was dismantled in the following years.
