Ochapowace the ski place was a ski hill at Ochapowace First Nation in Saskatchewan. It offered 10km of slopes for winter fun. It opened in 1981 and operated for over 30 years. Due to the high operating costs, it was decided that Ski Hill should be closed.
When we visited the site it had been abandoned for years. It was a time capsule, the chair lifts still in place, the chalet empty and the slopes overgrown. The chalet appeared like it was shut down for the season and there were still signs on the road directing visitors. It never reopened for the season.
There was talk about redeveloping to create a four-season operation featuring skiing, waterslides, hiking, trail rides, and more. We believe some work was done on the buildings but it looks like the chair lifts may have been removed and this dream may have died.
